Nine in ‘09

Ladies and Gentlemen, as promised, here is my page dedicated to all things “Nine in ‘09.”  Feel free to stop by here as much as you like to keep tabs on how I’m doing in reaching my goal.  Below is a list of all my goals.  I’ll keep you updated on how I’m doing progression towards those goals.  Please leave lots of comments and words of encouragement as I work to reach all nine goals by September 1, 2009.

1. Buy a Louis Vuitton bag by saving enough money for it (that means it can’t be purchased with my annual bonus, incentive compensation, tax return, lottery winnings, etc. Just good old-fashioned saving)

LOUIS V FUND: $75 (as of October 11, 2008) - It’ll get in there, I swear

2. Take my GMAT and apply for business school by the 2nd round for all schools I’m applying to (I do have a scoring goal, but some things are sacred). Side note: If I work with you, please don’t spill the beans (and yes, I realize the internet is not the best place to try to keep a secret).

COUNTDOWN TO GMAT: T minus XX days – I STILL haven’t scheduled my test.  I think I might have commitment issues.

3. Lose another 40 lbs.

WEIGHT LOST TO DATE: 5 lbs (that was by accident)

4. Blog at least 2 times a week

Welp, we know last week was a wrap, but I’m back on track with it!

5. Work-out 60 minutes a day, 4 days a week

I’ve been getting up in the mornings, but this week I’ve slacked.  I have started a running journal though, so I’ll keep you posted.

6. Go on 12 dates (that’s 1 per month); by 12 dates, I mean with 12 different guys – eek!

One down – 11 to go!
Side note: D-Magic said friend dates don’t count.  She gets a big, fat boo hiss for that one.

7. Take an enrichment course

I’m taking a grant writing class for The Endowment Fund.  I’m also taking a Project Management Course.  They’re not exactly “fun” but they are enriching. I still can’t cook, ya’ll.

8. Do one thing each month that is totally out of my norm

September: I told this really cute waiter at The Diner in Washington, DC that I thought he was really attractive. It was totally out of the ordinary for me
and I’ll probably never do it again.  (In case you’re wondering, he blew me off – dummy!)

October: I hung out with an atheist the other night (don’t tell my mom – eek!) It was completely out of the norm for me and a really fun time.  Don’t worry, I’m not being converted – just trying something I’ve never done, that’s all.

9. Read from the Bible everyday

September: I’ve been reading Acts and following a Bible Study book. I’ll let you all know if I find something I want to share.

October: So, about half way through September I scrapped the Bible Study book.  But, that’s only because I’ve been reading the scriptures that have been referenced in sermons from my church and D-Magics (ha!).  And, my mommy sent me a new daily bread, so I’ve been reading those scriptures too.  How you like them apples?

  1. [...] And, while D-Magic is scary and all (don’t let the soft voice fool you), I think that it’s going to take more than just her and me to keep me on task. I figure that if all of my adoring fans (and by all, I mean about 15 people) check-in on my progress, it will keep me honest. So, I’m going to share my “Nine in ‘09” list with you. I want you to ask me how I’m doing on my list? Please feel free to e-mail me, put it on my Facebook wall, or comment on my blog posts from time to time (which you should be doing anyway, people). I’ll even create a “Nine in ‘09” page on the blog to keep everyone updated and give you a p… [...]
